Aluminium vs Steel Modular Kitchens: Cost, Durability & Designs in Hyderabad

Modular kitchens have been one of the new-age options that homeowners have been implementing in their homes. They offer simplicity and adaptability. But what type of material should you choose for your modular kitchens?

Homeowners have two choices for their new modular kitchens. Steel and aluminium have been the most trusted materials for most of these needs. But which among them should you choose?

This blog helps you make a choice between the two. We will take into account the cost, durability, and designs into consideration as well.

Aluminium vs Steel Modular Kitchens: The Cost Comparison

Aluminium modular kitchens typically range from ₹800-₹1,500 per sq ft in Hyderabad. That should mean you get premium value for high-end finishes. Steel options fall between ₹1,000-₹1,800 per sq ft. The steel comes with difficult and complex fabrication issues. It also needs a thicker gauge for better stability.

For a standard 10×10 ft L-shaped kitchen, expect ₹2-3 lakhs with Elite Aluminium’s lightweight frames. Compare it with  ₹2.5-4 lakhs for steel equivalents. The aluminium is easy to transport, and thus you save further 20% on the transportation costs.

Aluminium vs Steel Modular Kitchens: Durability Breakdown

Hyderabad is known for the humid, monsoon-heavy weather. That would make it ideal to fight corrosion, rust, and termite damage far better than steel. Powder-coated aluminium frames from providers like Elite Aluminium maintain their finish for 15-20 years.

Steel offers strength but requires frequent anti-rust treatments. The aluminium designs from Elite include reinforced edges that support heavy usage without warping, backed by a 5-year warranty for peace of mind.

The table below should give you a better idea of the comparison between steel and aluminium

Feature	Aluminium (Elite Style)	Steel
Corrosion Resistance	Excellent (no rust in humidity)	Moderate (needs coatings)
Weight	Lightweight (easy install)	Heavier (higher labour cost)
Lifespan	15-25 years	10-20 years with maintenance
Impact Resistance	High (flexible, no dents)	High but prone to scratches

Aluminium vs Steel Modular Kitchens: Design Versatility

Aluminium offers sleek, modern profiles with matte, gloss, or wood-grain finishes. That would mean you get a great luxury at a lower cost. That should make it an obvious choice in the contemporary apartments in Hyderabad. Elite Aluminium crafts handle-less doors, fluted panels, and integrated appliance hides in L-, U-, or island layouts.

Steel offers you the best possible durability. But it suffers from the customisation issues. The design may not look great with visible welds. Aluminium offers you the best possible malleability.

Elite Aluminium’s Hyderabad showroom displays these designs, from compact 2BHK galley setups to villa islands, all with soft-close drawers and LED task lighting.

Aluminium vs Steel Modular Kitchens: Maintenance and Lifestyle Compatibility

You can clean up an aluminium modular kitchen with a damp cloth. It typically resists fingerprints and stains. You may not be able to expect this with the steel designs.

Hyderabadi kitchens are known for oily foods. An aluminium modular kitchen should be an excellent option in these scenarios. Steel demands polishing to avoid water spots, adding weekly chores. Both materials suit modular efficiency, but aluminium’s recyclability appeals to eco-conscious homeowners. Elite Aluminium includes easy-swap modular panels, so redesigns cost under ₹50,000 years later.

Aluminium vs Steel Modular Kitchens: Material Properties and Performance

Aluminium weighs 1/3rd of steel. That should mean it can be easily installed in high-rise buildings without any sort of strain. That apart, it is also 100% recyclable, unlike steel.

Steel is a thermal conductor and can make the counters quite warm during the summer. Of course, both aluminium and steel work great with laminates, acrylics, or stone tops. However, aluminium can handle thermal expansion cracks more effectively.  We at Elite Aluminium offer marine-grade aluminium that helps you in humid conditions in the kitchen.

Aluminium vs Steel Modular Kitchens: Installation Process and Timeline

At Elite Aluminium, we follow a streamlined approach to help you get the best workmanship. Our process includes site survey, custom 3D render (24 hours), material pick, prefab in-factory, 7-10 day on-site assembly, and final tweaks.

With steel, this may be a bit difficult. Steel is most likely to create mess and dirt, unlike aluminium. The installation times taken for aluminium is considerably lower. The ease of craftsmanship makes it ideal for rented apartments. Moreover, our designs help you stay protected from structural damage of any nature.
